Here guests will have the opportunity to visit 3 spectacular tombs. Guest will have the option to purchase additional tickets to enter King Tutankhamen’s tomb, as well as the fabulous joint tomb of Ramses V & VI.Next we’re off to visit the megalithic Rameseum.
Originally called the House of Millions of Years, the Rameseum was said to have been built Pharaoh Ramesses II. As his mortuary temple, this would have been a place of worship dedicated to him as a god on earth, where his memory would have been kept alive till long after his death. Built on top of at least one earlier structure, this magnificent temple houses statues that required the use of high technologies as well as an enormous megalithic seated statue that has fallen into pieces. Sculpted from one solid piece of Aswan syenite, it would have once towered at 69 ft high, weighing more than 1000 tons. This is the largest remaining colossal statue (except statues crafted in situ) in the world. Scattered remains of two other finely crafted statues of the seated king made from pink granite and black granite once flanked the entrance to the temple.
We then continue on to the Valley of the Nobles – the burial place of ancient Egyptian noble men who once served the royal court. These hidden underground tombs were carefully designed, and are well preserved – depicting the afterlife and the daily lives of those buried there. After a stop at the impressive Colossi of Memnon, we’ll check into our rooms on our cruise ship and have lunch. The rest of the afternoon will be free to enjoy the cruise ship’s amenities. We will explore the grounds and Yousef will point out examples of exceptional stone-masonry and evidence of lost advanced technology. Afterwards we will return to the cruise ship for lunch, as our Nile cruise sets sail towards Edfu. Afternoon and evening will be free to enjoy the amenities on the cruise ship. We will return to the cruise ship as the cruise continues to sail towards Kom Ombo. The rest of the morning and afternoon will be free, and there will be afternoon tea served on the top deck. In the late afternoon we will dock in Kom Ombo and visit the twin temples dedicated to the crocodile Neter, Sobek and Horus, the Elder. December 12 Thursday Day 9 Elephantine Island (Optional morning trip to Abu Simbel OR the Nubian Museum)
After everyone returns from their optional trips (or remains on the boat for rest and relaxation), we’ll board a motor boat that will take us to Elephantine Island. We will discuss the theory that the Ark of the Covenant was once hidden on this island on its journey south to Ethiopia, where many believe it is hidden now.We will return to the cruise ship for dinner. The annual rising of Sirius was synonymous with the flooding of the River Nile, which left huge deposits of silt, the very valuable black earth or “KMT” (Khemit), that became one of the ancient names for Egypt.Isis is usually depicted wearing the throne, or “seat of power”, reflecting the matriarchal nature of the very ancient civilization. A long hallway that runs in east/west directions is flanked by chambers that contains megalithic stone boxesweighingupto100 tons. Many believe that Bulls associated with the Apis Bull cult were buried in them, however, no bulls or human bodies were found in any of these huge boxes which illustrate extremely advanced technology. When excavated in 1852, all twenty-four boxes, weighing 60-80 tons, had been plundered. Their lids had been pried loose and the contents taken. After lunch at a local restaurant we’ll return to our hotel for a free evening. Overnight at Hyatt Regency Cairo West, Giza (B,L)

These two magnificent sites are still under excavation and closed to the general public, however, we have organized a special permission visit to both these sites. Abu Sir means “the House or Temple of Osiris”, and the area is said to be a vast necropolis from the Old Kingdom period, with some later additions. We’ll look at the many incredible indications that this site is probably far more ancient. There are 14 pyramid structures onsite – three large ones still remain, however, Abu Sir is home to one the most elaborate and unique mastaba said to have been built for a non-royal in from the 5th Dynasty.
Structures here demonstrate impressive and highly advanced stone working techniques and the entire site was laid out in careful alignment with the Sun Temple of the ancient city of On/An (Greek Heliopolis). We will then continue on to Abu Ghorab, just northwest of the Abu Sir pyramids. Abu Ghorab is home to two structures showing a reverence for the sun. Abu Ghorab features a giant calcite crystal ‘Hotep Ra’ that many speculate was once an ancient place for religious rituals.
